I'm in the process of building a new traveler server following these instructions (http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21501951) and working with an open PMR to get assistance. I've got it running in test mode right now, still as an 8.5.3 server. I needed to wait for our networking team to open a new part in our firewall for our test url, so that I can ensure this server is working as it should before I upgrade it to 9.0.1.
That firewall changes were made yesterday and the server is accessible from my Android browser as well as another Android device. These are the two devices I'm using for testing as no active users (except myself) are impacted. I uninstalled the traveler application from both devices before continuing.
When I used the test URL, I was able to get to traveler and be prompted for my credentials (as well as the test credentials on the other device). In both cases I was using the browser that comes with both Android 4.1.2 and Android 4.4.2. After authentication the page correctly identified the devices as an Android. However whenever I attempted to download the .apk file on either device the download failed. I cleared history, cache, passwords, anything that might be storing something and would try again. Each time it would fail on both. I enabled the web server logging to see what error was coming up and each time it was:
Request: GET /travelerclients/LotusTraveler/android/8.5.3.200.201304081527/LotusTraveler.apk HTTP/1.1
Status: 401 UNAUTHORIZED (The client is not authorized to access data)
Yet I had successfully authenticated.
Finally I used the Chrome browser on my device which is running Android 4.4.2 and had no issue downloading the apk file. I finally did the same on the other device and was also able to download the file.
I tried again on my device this morning, just to see if it would download using the other Internet browser and it failed again with the same reason.
I'm not sure where to look at this point, and I don't know if this is going to be a problem going forward. As per the link above, I copied the necessary traveler files identified. But otherwise, it was a clean installation of Domino 8.5.3FP3 and Traveler 8.5.3 UP2 IF2.
Once the application is installed, it appears to be working fine.
Any ideas why? Going forward not all users will necessarily have a browser other than the Internet Browser that comes with the device, unless it's specifically a google device.
I tried with my iPad and had no issues.
Ideas?
Thanks.
Pam
